2nd YEAR

1-4 Months

At the age of 2 years and 5 days I completely stopped using diapers during the day. As a big
boy, I now ask to go to the restroom instead. I began to understand how things work; for
instance, I can now turn on and off a music player. I match objects to a picture in a book.
At the age of 2 years and 3 months I started attending my preschool, and it did not take me
long to get used to leaving my parents for a whole day on my own. I can still understand much
more than I can say, but I am really trying hard to start speaking well.

I am getting taller and stronger. My height is 36 and 1/4 inches (0.92 m), and my weight is
29 lbs (13.1kg).

5-8 Months

At the age of 2 years and 6 months my vocabulary started to grow rapidly. I was able to
construct a two- or three –word sentence. I began to name things, people, actions, and
situations. Even though some of the words I say are not clear, my family understands what I
am trying to say. I still can't explain everything that I want, and sometimes I cry because of that.

I started learning how things work. For instance, I know exactly why sliding doors open: I have
to be near the door to start its movement. To get music I have to push the correct button on
the player.

My height is 37 and 1/8 inches (0.943 m), and my weight is 30 lbs (13.6kg).

9-12 Months

I am already THREE years old. My vocabulary is growing every day. I can say first and last
names of my mother, father, and grandparents. I know my own first and last names, age, and
I can tell it when somebody asks about it. I recognize, match, and name six colors and can
count from 1 to 10 in English and Russian. Nowadays my primary language is Russian, but I
know how to translate several words in English. I already use sentences with more than three
words and can ask questions using question words “where,” “when,” and “which.” I try to use
the spoon to eat the food I like myself. I can put on shoes, but I still cannot tie it.

My height is 38 and 1/2inches (0.978m), and my weight is 31 lbs (14.04kg).
