2nd YEAR

1-3 Months

At the age of 14 months and one week I said good bye to my favorite pacifier during the day-time naps (sorry, I still need it at night). These months I got more experience walking alone and climbing the stairs. I prefer running to walking. I really enjoy music, and now I can bounce up and down to it. I cannot talk yet, but completely understand what is said to me. However, when I do not like what they want from me, I simply pretend that I have no idea what they are talking about. Now I  wave good-bye when leaving.

3-6 Months Time flies so fast. Now I am 18 months old. I am not worried that I still cannot speak because I understand everything what adults tell me, and I respond to words and commands with the appropriate actions. For instance, I know what to do when they tell me “Bring your shoes” or “Close the door.” I like to look at the illustrated books and point at the familiar objects. At the age of 16 months I completely gave up my pacifier. No more that baby stuff. I got stronger physically, and now I try to walk and run whenever possible. I get angry when they want me to ride in the stroller.
7-9 Months

The most important accomplishment of this period is that now I can fall asleep to my nap without being rocked on the hands of my parents or grandparents. Of course, at the beginning of this experiment I cried, but now everything is OK.  Because  now I nap only once during the day, there is more playtime. My family worries that they cannot understand my baby’s language. I, on the other hand, understand everything they say to me. Unfortunately, I do not understand English yet (just Russian), so they use English when they want to hide some secret from me.  I learn more and more around the house: I can turn on and off the CD player, TV or a DVD player. I just started holding the spoon myself when eating, and when I do not want to eat something, I just move my head to the right and left saying "no.".

10-12 Months

Finally, I am TWO years old.  And what a journey it has been.  Just a year ago I made my first steps, and now…Now I am a big and strong boy. My height is 35 inches (0.89 m), and my weight is 27 lbs (12.3kg).  I can fearlessly make my way through the playgrounds at Pacific Pan Park and Plamer Park. There, I run, jump, reach, slide, and even teach my parents and grandparents how to do the same things.

I am not greedy, and I share my toys with others.  Well, once in a while, someone wants to play with the same toy as I do or go on the same slide at the same time, I start fighting.  I know, I know, it is not a good thing to do, but my instincts overpower me....

I learn more and more. For instance, I know how to operate the various elevators at all my three residences (my parents and grandparents), which buttons to push depending on where I am going: outside, to the pool, or back home.  Unfortunately, I can still only say a few words, although I understand everything that is said to me (except, of course, when it is to my advantage to pretend that I have no idea what they are saying....).  And, yes, just one more thing: at the age of 23 months and 18 days I started asking to go pee “like a big boy”. Wearing dry pampers is just so much more pleasant...
